Drawing a little wide-hipped stick figure helps me every time

Step 1. Thumbnail : Menggambar dummy pose || fokus ke Ide dan komposisi 2. Sketch draft : Membuat sketsa pose (lengkungan badan, bentuk tangan dan kaki secara dasar) || fokus membentuk 2. 2. Form : Membetuk pose dan sketsa dasar bentuk pakaian (tidak perlu sangat detail) || fokus membentuk 3. Refined sketch : Menggambar detail pakaian (termasuk aksesoris), rambut, pose, wajah, dan mata. || fokus ke detail dan keterbacaan 4. Lineart : lineart nya dikembangkan seperti ketebalan dan opacity nya .saran opacity diturunkan di bulu mata, ujungnya saja, dan lineart rambut harus tipis 5. Coloring : Warna tidak boleh sama (jika bentuknya menutupi) agar jelas, bagian mata disarankan saturated color || fokus arti warna, fokus objek, dan kejelasan 6. shading lighting : bagian rambut yg atas warnanya lebih cerah (bebas sih, intinya harus beda dengan bagian rambut menuju leher) 7. post effects

i mean...wouldn't it be better for beginners to study anatomy (assuming they already practiced shapes) before distorting them? ya know "learn the rules before breaking them"?

Thank you for making this video. ❤ I struggled with form and how to make my proportions accurate and consistent. I've had this problem for a while and many other videos were giving vague ideas on how to tackle it. I knew that I could nail a pose, and not know ANYTHING about anatomy, as long as I followed the reference, and it displeased me. I planned to do commissions but doubt I could satisfy the customers I would have gotten if I didn't get anatomy, poses and form down correctly. I struggled to find a suitable video for me that made steps clear on how to properly set up a base reference with foreshortened simple shapes, how to ignore the small, insignificant curves at first and focus on the bigger picture, but yours did just that. So thank you, you have helped a fellow artist. ❤😊

Ngl I know how to shade abd draw shapes but perfectly and still don’t get anatomy right. So that part didn’t help at all x.x or maybe I just suck and am not gonna draw people like I’d like to 😅

My hot art take is if you are a beginner don't use tools meant to speed up your workflow as you have no real reason to and it's just limiting the actual experience you would get from just doing it yourself. Like with the symmetry tool it makes 0 sense to use if you aren't capable of drawing a pair of eyes with guide lines or even the other side of the face. I'd say to also avoid straight line tools because knowing how to draw a straight line free hand and have it fit the perspective you are going for is pretty crucial to understanding perspective. When you have more experience and are doing work for someone else (doesn't need to be paid work can be something even like posting to socials) then i'd say use those tools but do so after having gone through learning to do it yourself

Can relate to the agression with the colour theory trend since so many times you try looking for tips about something you're struggling with and they're either skimmed, badly explained or presented in an infuriating way that makes you reject the advice

i think the reason why people are making the “tracing is ok as long as you do it for yourself” take is bc i remember like a decade ago people had the whole “tracing is bad you’re garbage if you trace” mindset
